Having been inspired by existing Fastbraces® providers and witnessing the results that they were achieving, I was intrigued by the description of how easy, and fail proof this system was that was now to become available to all GDPs in the UK. What was there to lose?? I had to find out what all the buzz was about.

The Fastbraces® course was held at the Hyatt Regency on 18th and 19th January. It was very well attended considering there was hardly any publicity about the course, with the 30 dedicated, forward thinking practitioners ploughing through the snow to attend.

The course was conducted by the founder and creator, hence President of Fastbraces®, Dr Anthony Viazis. Former Professor, Specialist Orthodontist Dr Viazis informed us how as a former full time academic, he left the University teaching establishment, set up 15 Fastbraces clinics all over Texas and then sold these practices to build his own “University” teaching campus near Dallas, Texas, where he now teaches a lot of doctors every month about the technology of Fastbraces.

Initially, I was dumbfounded firstly by the thousands of clinical cases that had been completed by Dr Viazis with 20 years of research to perfect the technology; and secondly, by how charismatic Dr Viazis was and how easy it was to learn from him. The seminar runs through the modern and technological improvements in orthodontics with the adequate amount of necessary theory to understand tooth movement properly. All jargon was omitted and the necessary facts and principles were taught. The audience varied between those that had a good understanding of orthodontics to those who had very little comprehension like myself. The supporting research evidence spoke for itself. The course was a huge success which was very well received by all. To the less experienced’, it was insightful and a great learning into how teeth can moved in such an easy, fast and safe manner without the interference or ‘popping up’ of previous learnings to confuse any facts. To the more experienced, it was a revelation that there was an easier, faster, safer and more supportive system out there that they had never encountered before. I was told that it challenged their previous orthodontic knowledge and they encountered a paradigm mindset shift of their model of orthodontics.

The history of Fastbraces®, theory, diagnosis and treatment planning was all covered in a comprehensive way followed by case after case studies demonstrating the beauty of the technology, the amazing results and the huge advantages the system has for patients and doctors in terms of speed, efficiency, comfort and precision in finishing cases.
